Advisory Support for Defence Industry Policy Review and Enterprise-Level Reform

INTRODUCTION

We provided enterprise-level advisory support to inform the review and refinement of defence industry policy and procurement frameworks, supporting more resilient, transparent, and sustainable defence capability
outcomes.

Our role focused on translating strategic intent into practical policy measures, addressing structural challenges across industry engagement, capability development, and workforce sustainability.

BACKGROUND

The policy review was undertaken in response to evolving geopolitical pressures and increasing demands on sovereign defence capability, requiring a reassessment of how defence industry policy supports long-term readiness and resilience.

The engagement required independent analysis of existing policy settings, identification of systemic constraints, and development of targeted, implementable reform measures aligned with national security objectives.

OUR APPROACH

We conducted a structured assessment of defence industry policy settings, drawing on stakeholder consultations, comparative benchmarks, and recognised best practice frameworks.

Our work focused on developing a clear, prioritised roadmap for reform, addressing:

▪ Procurement efficiency and assurance
▪ Industry engagement and participation mechanisms
▪ Capability and workforce development
▪ Long-term sustainability of the defence industrial base

Recommendations were deliberately framed to ensure strategic coherence, practical deliverability, and policy credibility.

OUTCOMES AND IMPACT

The advisory work informed subsequent policy refinement and decision making, contributing to improved transparency, stronger alignment between defence objectives and industrial policy, and clearer engagement mechanisms across the defence ecosystem.

The engagement reinforced the value of disciplined, evidence-based policy advice in strengthening sovereign capability outcomes and supporting effective collaboration across defence and industry stakeholders.
